Placement test (seed test)
DefinitionA placement test sends one email to a list of seed mailboxes at different providers and reports whether each copy landed in the inbox, a secondary tab or spam.
Placement tests measure deliverability directly, which open rates no longer do reliably. Run them before campaigns, after DNS or tool changes, and regularly for active mailboxes.
A test is only as broad as its seed list: seeds should cover every provider your recipients use.
