Inbox placement test

Stop guessing where your email lands.

Short answerAn inbox placement test shows where one real email lands at each provider: inbox, promotions or spam. RoxInbox sends it to seed mailboxes across every major provider and explains each miss with authentication and blacklist results.

The free test needs an account so we can send you the seed list and keep your report private.

How it works

Three steps, a few minutes.

  1. 01

    Get your seed list

RoxInbox gives you a list of seed mailboxes spread across every provider in the network, and a short test ID.

  2. 02

    Send your real email

Send the exact message you plan to use, from the mailbox you plan to use, to the seed list. Include the test ID anywhere in the body.

  3. 03

    Read the report

Within minutes, see whether each seed copy landed in the inbox, promotions or spam, plus authentication results and blacklist status.

What the report shows

The result, and the reason behind it.

Placement per provider

Inbox, promotions or spam for every seed mailbox, grouped by provider, with the overall inbox rate.

Authentication as received

SPF, DKIM and DMARC results exactly as each provider evaluated them, read from the received headers.

Blacklists and DNS

Whether the sending domain or IP is listed, and whether MX and PTR records are in place.

Content signals

Links, tracking domains, images and phrasing that commonly trip filters, flagged for review rather than scored blindly.

History

Every test is kept, so you can compare a mailbox before and after warm-up or a DNS fix.

Scheduled tests

Paid plans run tests automatically and alert you in email or Slack when placement drops.

Seed coverage

Seed mailboxes on every provider we warm.

A test that only checks one or two providers tells you little about a mixed recipient list. RoxInbox seeds cover the same providers as the warm-up network.

FAQ

Placement test questions

What is an inbox placement test?

An inbox placement test sends one email to a set of seed mailboxes at different providers and reports where each copy landed: the inbox, a promotions or other tab, or spam. It measures deliverability directly, instead of inferring it from open rates.

How is a placement test different from a spam checker?

A spam checker scores your content and setup against rules. A placement test shows the real outcome at real providers. RoxInbox reports both: placement per provider, plus the authentication and blacklist checks that usually explain a miss.

How often should I run a placement test?

Before every new campaign, after any DNS or sending-tool change, and weekly for mailboxes you send from every day. Plans include 20 tests a month per account, and you can buy more as credits.

Why did my test land in spam at one provider only?

Providers weigh signals differently. A miss at one provider usually points to reputation with that provider, a content pattern it dislikes, or a missing record it enforces more strictly. The report lists the authentication results that provider saw.
